The goal at the end of the class is to have the students navigate and sail themselves to Sheffield island, disembark and have a contest to see who can identify the most species.   

 They Cover:
• Biology of estuaries (using nets to sample marine life;) Island geology (demonstration of how a glacier works)
• Operating an outboard powered boat (with a USCG captain on board)
• Rules of the road
• Chart basics
• Man overboard drills
• Basic Racing
