58th Annual Art of Northeast Exhibit at Silvermine
With juried 1200 entries, Art of the Northeast is Silvermine's largest show of the year, for 58 years showcasing emerging artists who have gone on to prominence, including Helen Nevelson and Elaine de Kooning. Open to artists throughout New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, it is juried by Valerie Smith, Director of Exhibitions and Senior Curator of the Queens Museum of Art, who leads a gallery "Walk and Talk" exhibition tour on Friday, May 4th at 6: p.m., prior to the public reception from 7 to 9 p.m.

Shelter Our Strays Presents Marley & Me Author
Shelter Our Strays, a group formed by The Bruce Museum to raise funds for a new Animal Control Shelter in Greenwich, is sponsoring a talk and book signing from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM with John Grogan, author of the bestseller Marley & Me, who presents his new children's book, Bad Dog, Marley! at Arcadia Coffee. The event is free. $1 of every book sold goes to the shelter building fund.

Stamford Museum's Annual Antique and Classic Car Show
Stamford Museum & Nature Center's 4th annual antique and classic car show, features more than 50 antique and classic cars illustrating 20th century automobile design from 1900 through the 1970's. Past exhibitions have included outstanding examples of American and European car styling and mechanics, with brands such as Packard, Rolls Royce, Ford, Chevrolet, Buick, Mercedes, Chrysler, Aston Martin, Auburn, Studebakeer, DeSoto, MG, and many more. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m with the Peoples Choice Awards presented at 2:45 pm.

6th Annual Castles in the Sand to Benefit IHA
Sand sculptors & sponsors are needed for The Interfaith Housing Association's 6th Annual Castles in the Sand sandcastle build-a-thon at Compo Beach in Westport between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Big Lots (10' X 10') are $100 and can accommodate up to four sand sculptors. Really Big Lots (15' X 15') are $300. Celebrity judges are Miggs Burroughs of Miggs B Design and Peter Cadoux of Peter Cadoux Architects, P.C. who will judge based on creativity. To reserve a sand-sculpting lot please call Heather Cavanagh at 203.226.3426 ext. 11. Compo Beach parking fees for attendees are waved for the day of the event. The rain-date is Sunday, May 13th.
