Chef Tim LaBant Opens The Schoolhouse at Cannondale
Tim LaBant launched his solo career as a caterer serving Fairfield County’s upscale entertaining-savvy clientele. His high-end fare embraces cuisines from around the world, but his true distinction is his dedication to using locally grown, farm-fresh produce.
Now, LaBant can entertain guests in his own "home" in Wilton, Conn. He has masterfully turned The Schoolhouse at Cannondale, one of the town’s most treasured historic buildings, into an elegant restaurant. He is taking his experience, technique, and artistry to a new level by preparing dinner daily for everyone to enjoy.

Stamford Museum's Take A Hike Days
April 17th through Thursday, April 19th, are three days of fun, hands-on activities at Stamford Museum and Nature Center, with guided nature hikes, orienteering, tree plantings, and a scavenger hunt. The Museum has a vast network of newly marked, color-coded trails, many of which follow the Poorhouse Brook. The site also features 80 acres of forest, adjacent to the 88-acre Bartlett Arboretum. A variety of programs for hikers of all skill levels and ages are scheduled.

Ameritrade Founder James P. Moore, Jr., at Quick Center
Fairfield University's College Ignatian Lecture presents James P. Moore, Jr., founder of Ameritrade and author of One Nation Under God: The History of Prayer in America, soon to be a PBS special. His talk begins at 8 PM. Tickets are $35 and $30 for seniors.

Family Earth Day Celebration at Beardsley Zoo
Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo celebrates Earth Day with a weekend environmental extravaganza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Zoo kicks off the weekend celebration at 11 a.m. on Saturday with a presentation by environmentalist Colin Bennett of Clean Water Action in Hartford, who discusses "Climate Change and its Effects on Wildlife." There is also an Earth Day storytime and craft session for children while parents watch the presentation. From noon to 3 p.m., Zoo visitors can enjoy a variety of earth-friendly activities and presentations, including an alternative energy display with working wind turbine, solar cell and fuel cell. Children can make environmentally- friendly crafts and learn about being a "green" kid during storytime. Earth-friendly vendors offer a great variety of "green" products. More events take place on Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM, including a Backyard Scavenger Hunt for kids.

Patti Lupone at The Palace
Tony and Olivier Award winner Patti LuPone in her new concert at The Palace Theatre, Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda, performs songs from musicals which she could have played, should have played, did play and will play. The list of shows includes Hair, Bye Bye Birdie, Funny Girl, West Side Story and Peter Pan and, of course, from her award-winning performances in Evita and Anything Goes. Her performance begins at 8 PM.
