The Avon Theatre presents the Connecticut premiere of the documentary, Rebuilding Hope. The film tells the story of Syracuse, NY resident Gabriel Bol Deng and his friends, Koor Garang and Garang Mayuol, who fled their villages in South Sudan due to civil war and grew up in refugee camps, resettling in the USA in 2001. Accompanied by Seattle filmmaker Jen Marlowe, these young men, now in their twenties, embarked on a journey back to Sudan. The screening, at 7 PM, is followed by a Q&A with Mr. Deng and director Jen Marlowe. Tickets are $10. A portion of proceeds from this event will go toward health care and education projects in South Sudan that the subjects of the film have initiated.
