For the very first time, Bridgeport will be holding its own First Night throughout downtown Bridgeport on New Year's Eve, with 14 different performance venues. The 2006 theme for Bridgeport's First Night is A Circus of the Arts, in recognition of the city's long and illustrious history with P. T. Barnum and the city's emerging arts scene. Family-oriented activities and performances begin in late afternoon, running from 4 to 7 PM. Hat & mask making, drumming, storytelling, mime and juggling performances will also be taking place.
