With juried 1200 entries, Art of the Northeast is Silvermine's largest show of the year, for 58 years showcasing emerging artists who have gone on to prominence, including Helen Nevelson and Elaine de Kooning. Open to artists throughout New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, it is juried by Valerie Smith, Director of Exhibitions and Senior Curator of the Queens Museum of Art, who leads a gallery "Walk and Talk" exhibition tour on Friday, May 4th at 6: p.m., prior to the public reception from 7 to 9 p.m.
