The Newport International Boat Show, September 13th through 16th, is a showcase of the latest boats -- both power and sail -- presented in the luxurious setting of Newport, RI. Now, for its thirty-seventh year, the Show has added dock space, demo areas, more luxury and Down East Boats.  If you harbor a passion for boating, there’s only one place to be.

One of the five largest in-water boat shows in the country, the Newport International Boat Show covers over 15 acres along America’s Cup Avenue, stretching from the Newport Yachting Center to Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina. More than 850 exhibitors with over 700 boats ranging in size from 16 to 85 feet are expected to be on display, including express cruising yachts, ocean-going trawlers at PassageMaker magazine’s TrawlerPort, multihulls, sport fishing boats, runabouts, kayaks, canoes and inflatables. In addition, there are engines, sails, equipment, safety products, electronics plus thousands of accessories and marine services, as well as demonstrations, seminars, and workshops. Cruising World, Sailing World and Power Cruising magazines will sponsor “Newport for New Products”, the selection of the “BEST” of the official debuts of 2008 boats and boating products at the Show. And, for the kids, on Saturday and Sunday, the WOW Mobile from the New Bedford Oceanarium will be on hand.   

This year, the Show is expanding with the addition of a new exhibit dock along the southern edge of the Show featuring Formula Boats. The land area along Bowen’s Wharf will be filled with the classic styles -- as well as new debuts -- of Chris-Craft boats. A growing number of Down East boats will be in the Bannister’s Wharf basin and more luxury yachts in the 65 – 85 foot range will be seen throughout the Show. Plus, there’s a new Demo Dock at the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina that allows buyers to set an appointment to try out their dreamboat right at the Show. And, more than a hundred previously-owned boats are expected at the Newport Brokerage Boat Show just across the harbor at the Newport Shipyard.Tickets on Friday and Sunday are $16.00 per day, with Saturday at $18.00, and children under twelve are free all three of those days, when accompanied by an adult.
